Freight costs diminish Champion Iron's earnings
High freight costs and shipping issues at the end of last year have impacted Montreal-based mining company Champion Iron's third-quarter earnings for fiscal 2022, despite a record-breaking 5% increase in iron ore concentrate production on-year.
In the quarter ended 31 December, Champion Iron earned CAD 68 million ($53.4m) on sales of CAD 253m. On-year, the company's earnings are down from CAD 120m on sales of CAD 329.5m.
