French scrap prices tumble again
French domestic scrap prices are down €100/tonne ($106/t) month-on-month in new June contracts. Similar falls of between €80-100/t are happening in southern and eastern European countries, Kallanish notes.
Cheaper scrap such as HMS is particularly abundant in France and Belgium due to the very weak export volumes to Turkey. This grade is falling by more than €100/t this month.
