French stainless scrap prices increase on shortage
Stainless steel scrap prices in France and Belgium are increasing by approximately €30-40/tonne ($31-42) month-on-month, driven mainly by a shortage.
As was the case last month, however, buying continues to be dragged down by weak finished product sales, particularly for long products. Longs producers have nevertheless resumed buying limited scrap tonnages after not purchasing last month due to output curbs, Kallanish notes.
