Gerdau announces UAW strike's impact on US operations
The Sao Paulo, Brazil-based steel producer Gerdau says it will reduce its US specialty steel output in October due to the United Auto Workers (UAW) strike, Kallanish learns.
The decision will mean Gerdau operations require fewer workers.
"We’re on the verge of making very difficult decisions in the sector, starting the process of mass layoffs,” says ceo Gustavo Werneck.
