India bucks global production downtrend in April

Crude steel production in the 64 countries reporting to the World Steel Association (worldsteel) dropped for a ninth consecutive month on-year in April, by 5.1% to 162.75 million tonnes, with declines seen in most major producing regions except India. Output did however inch up 1% from March, Kallanish notes.
