Indian crude steel production capacity reaches 160mt
From an installed capacity of 109.85 million tonnes/year in the fiscal year through March 2015 (FY15), India's steel capacity surged 46% to 160.3m t/y in FY23, informs Indian steel minister Jyotiraditya Scindia.
In line with the National Steel Policy 2017, the nation is scaling up capacity to 300m t/y and production to 250m t/y by FY31.
India has emerged as the second-largest producer of crude steel in the world, producing 126.26mt in FY23, Kallanish notes.
