Japanese steel production rebounds in 2021
Japan saw year-on-year steel production growth of 15.8% in 2021 to 96.33 million tonnes, although monthly production declined 1.3% from November to 7.93mt in December, according to Japan Iron & Steel Federation data.
Electric arc furnaces contributed 25.3% of steel output for the whole year, Kallanish observes. Ordinary and specialty steel occupied market shares of 76.7% and 23.3% respectively.
