Japanese steel orders tumble in January
In January 2024, Japan’s ordinary steel orders tumbled on both month-on-month and year-on-year, according to statistics given by the Japan Iron & Steel Federation (JISF).
The country saw January orders fall 10.5% m-o-m and 5% y-o-y to 4.527 million tonnes, Kallanish notes. Unlike the previous trend, export orders even dropped faster than domestic orders.
