Merchant slab prices continue recovery
New sales of merchant slab to southern Europe this week have consolidated suppliers' higher offers, and possibly paved the way for more, higher-priced sales, market participants tell Kallanish.
The Ukrainian supplier sold a very large consignment, consisting of two lots – around 80,000 tonnes – to Italy, at $700/tonne cfr, netting back to $660/t fob Black Sea or possibly even higher, depending on freight. More demand from Europe at this price level…
