Miami-Dade Steel plans new $300 million mini-mill
Commissioners in Miami-Dade County, Florida, have unanimously approved a land deal for 123 acres of county-owned land on which a local group has proposed to build a new electric arc furnace mini-mill, Kallanish reports.
Miami-Dade Steel plans to spend approximately $300 million to build the mill on a 600-acre parcel gifted to the county by the US Air Force in 2004. The county is required to use the property for economic-development projects.
