Nippon denies Kashima blast furnace closure
Japanese steel producer Nippon Steel says it has no plans to shut down a blast furnace at its Kashima Works, contrary to reports. However, it adds that it plans to take measures to improve the competitiveness of its steelmaking business, although these are yet to be confirmed.
This suggests a BF closure further down the line would be possible, Kallanish notes.
