Nucor buys majority stake in California Steel
US steelmaker Nucor is expanding its geographic reach by acquiring majority ownership in West Coast flatrolled steel producer California Steel Industries, Kallanish reports.
Nucor has reached purchase agreements with current owners Vale Canada Limited and JFE Steel. It will pay Vale $400 million to acquire 50% ownership in CSI. The purchase price for a 1% equity ownership stake from JFE was not disclosed. JFE will hold a 49% ownership stake once the deal is finali…
