Costly energy to keep Outokumpu ferrochrome furnace idled
Outokumpu announced on Tuesday it will delay the restart of one of its three ferrochrome furnaces after a planned maintenance break. The decision was taken due to record-high electricity costs.
The company says the furnace is going into maintenance this week and was supposed to restart in early October. A new restart date is yet to be confirmed, with ferrochrome production set to continue at 70% of the group’s capacity.
