Plunging HRC stifles slab trading in East Asia
Depressed hot rolled coil prices are limiting demand and trading of slab in East Asia, Kallanish notes.
Regional trading sources are not hearing of offers nor trades. “There is no reference price for slab because there is no sense for rerollers to buy slab when HRC prices are dropping so quickly,” a regional trader says. “No one is buying slab,” another says.
