Russia increases stainless steel imports in 2023
Russian imports of stainless steel increased in 2023 to 486,000 tonnes, up by 30.8% on-year, says national special steel association USSA.
Imports of stainless cold-rolled flat products were up 31.1%, Kallanish notes. Hot-rolled flats increased by 7.4%, long products by 62%, seamless pipe by 121%, welded pipe by 13.6%, and wire grew 54.2%. However, primary billet imports fell by 17.7%, USSA says without providing tonnages.
