Samarco production ramps up rapidly following restart
Brazilian iron ore miner and pellet producer Samarco, co-owned by Vale and Australia's BHP Billiton, says its output reached 4.4 million tonnes in January-July. In the seven months since the resumption of operations, the company has made 47 shipments to the domestic and foreign markets.
Samarco’s current run rate is in line with the miner’s initial production capacity of 7-8 million tonnes/year of pellet, Kallanish notes.
