Shagang to increase scrap consumption in 2018

China’s Shagang Group estimates its 2018 scrap demand could reach 7 million tonnes, according to the 2018 annual Shagang scrap supplier conference. Shagang purchased 5.72mt of scrap in 2017, up from 3.57mt in 2016, and says the group will keep increasing its scrap use and purchase volumes, Kallanish notes.
