Steel futures inch up amid volatility
Chinese rebar and hot rolled coil futures on Tuesday were still recovering after the rapid drop in mid-July. But the pace of recovery is still slow due to suppressed demand that has not rebounded, Kallanish notes.
On the Shanghai Futures Exchange, the most-traded October 2022 rebar contract closed CNY 29/t higher than Monday at CNY 3,888/t ($576/t), but the same contract for HRC closed up CNY 17/t at CNY 3,874/t.
