Steel futures surge along with raw materials
Chinese rebar and hot rolled coil futures surged on Wednesday along with the rise in raw materials, especially iron ore, after two consecutive days of slow decreases, Kallanish notes.
On the Shanghai Futures Exchange, the most-traded October 2024 rebar contract closed at CNY 3,682/tonne ($509/t) on Wednesday, surging CNY 74/t on the prior trading day. The same contract for HRC gained CNY 56/t at CNY 3,833/t.
