Turkey's March scrap imports fall after six-month increase
Turkish scrap imports fell in March following six consecutive months of rises. They decreased by 21.8% year-on-year in March to 1.833 million tonnes, according to Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) data monitored by Kallanish. They were, however, up from 1.632mt in February.
Over 99%, or 1.824mt, of the March imports were obsolete scrap. The average price of this scrap was $447/tonne, up from $426/t in March 2023 and $445/t in February.
