Turkey's pig iron imports exceed 2021, prices down
Turkish pig iron import volume continued to rise in the first 10 months of the year, exceeding the whole of 2021 imported volume, data published by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) shows.
Turkish steelmakers received only 68,179 tonnes of the material in October, down 39% on-month and up 8% on-year. But at 1.2 million tonnes, the 10-month arrivals exceeded the whole of last year's by 0.4% and rose 26.8% on-year, Kallanish notes.
