Turkish steel production surge continues
Turkey registered a 46.6% on-year increase in crude steel production in February to 3.1 million tonnes, according to worldsteel data monitored by Kallanish.
The surge is however attributed to the low base of comparison, as a result of the devastating earthquakes on 6 February 2023. These temporarily paused production at roughly 30% of the country's steelmaking capacity, which is located in the affected region.
