Turkish billet exports slump despite Egypt surge
Turkish semi-finished product exports, the vast majority of which were billet, fell -37% on-year in August to 41,830 tonnes, according to Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) data monitored by Kallanish. This was also down from 105,535t in July.
HS code 720711 billet accounted for 41,021t, of which 25,697t went to Egypt, up over five-fold. Morocco took in 15,252t versus zero a year earlier.
