US raw steel production down 6.3% on-year
According to the American Iron and Steel Institute, the US steel industry produced 1.72 million short tons at a capability utilisation rate of 78.2% in the week ended 10 September. The figures represent a 0.5% increase from the week ended 3 September, Kallanish learns from the weekly report produced by AISI.
In the same week a year ago, production equalled 1.83m st, and capacity utilisation was 83.3%.
