US raw steel production for the week of 31 December was 1.60 million short tons with a capability utilisation rate of 71.8%, Kallanish learns from the American Iron and Steel Institute. The figure represents a 9.4% decrease from the same week in 2021, when production was 1.76m st and utilisation was 80.1%.
