USW endorses US Steel's Mon Valley upgrades
US Steel’s plans to upgrade its Mon Valley Works is drawing praise from the United Steelworkers Union (USW), Kallanish reports.
The company says it will build a thin-slab casting and rolling facility at its Edgar Thomson plant in Braddock, Pennsylvania, and a cogeneration power plant at its Clairton Works (see separate article). The cost of the project is estimated at approximately $1 billion, and the facilities are expected to be operational in 2022.
