US to bar DOD from buying CATL, BYD batteries
China’s largest battery manufacturers will be unable to sell their products to the US Department of Defence from October 2027, Kallanish reports.
This policy comes from the National Defence Authorisation Act, which was approved by US lawmakers in late December. While the bill outlines the DOD’s funding for the coming year, it also provides the department with guidance on certain policies, such as battery procurement.
