AK: Protecting domestic electrical steel is "... national imperative"
US President Donald Trump’s investigation into the national security implications of dumped foreign steel is particularly relevant to AK Steel’s grain-oriented electrical steel business, says ceo Roger Newport.
In an earnings conference call with analysts, Newport points out that AK is now the only domestic supplier of electrical steel. Allegheny Technologies Inc closed its Bagdad, Pennsylvania, electrical steel plant in October, Kallanish notes.
