AK Steel suffers blast incident in Butler plant
AK Steel is investigating a blast that took place Wednesday afternoon at its Butler, Pennsylvania, facility, Kallanish learns from local media reports and a company spokeswoman.
The blast, which injured two employees, was caused by a reaction in the melt shop’s furnace, according to spokeswoman Lisa Jester. The furnace is intact, Jester says, and the reaction took place inside of the furnace. Additionally, no customer orders will be impacted, she adds.
