ASEAN billet market rises on tighter supply
The billet import market in Manila has settled higher week-on-week, Kallanish notes. However, regional mills continue to press for higher prices.
A trader’s sale for Indonesian 5sp blast furnace billet to several buyers at $550/tonne cfr Manila on 7 September is a clear sign of wider acceptance of higher prices. “The majority of buyers accepted $550/t cfr,” a regional trader says. Offers were at $540-550/t cfr the previous week.
