Austria’s 2023 production drops despite December uptick
Austria’s steelmakers increased crude steel production in December compared with the previous month, according to worldsteel data.
Output amounted to 605,000 tonnes, up by 8% from November and 6% higher year-on-year, Kallanish notes.
In January-December, the country produced 7.13 million tonnes of steel, down 5% on-year. This follows a 4.7% on-year production drop in 2022.
