China scrap holds steady during mill overhauls
China's scrap market has been recovering slowly after the holiday. The sharp fall in steel prices has squeezed steelmaking profits and weakened mills' demand for scrap.
On Friday, Kallanish assessed 6mm+ heavy scrap delivered to mills in eastern China's Yangtze River Delta at CNY 2,907/tonne ($404/t), including VAT. This is unchanged from Thursday and remains level from 9 February.
