Chinese rebar futures dip as steel exports slump
The Chinese domestic steel market continues in good shape. Exports fell again year-on-year and month-on-month in January and steel futures are also remaining fairly solid, Kallanish notes.
Chinese steel products’ exports hit a five-year low in the first month of 2018 at 4.65 million tonnes, down by -36.6% on-year and -18.0% m-on-m. Increased Chinese domestic steel prices witnessed in 2017 have maintained a relatively high level entering 2018.
