Chinese scrap declines with rising supply
China's scrap prices fell slightly this week as supply increased. During the same period, steel scrap consumption by Chinese steel mills also increased significantly.
On Friday, Kallanish assessed 6mm+ heavy scrap delivered to mills in eastern China's Yangtze River Delta at CNY 3,148/tonne ($455/t), including VAT. This is up CNY 3/t from Thursday but down CNY 4/t from the previous Friday.
