Chinese scrap gains on lower shipments
China's scrap steel prices rose at the beginning of last week and then slowed down, but the decline in steel demand may drag down the scrap price trend.
On Friday, Kallanish assessed 6mm+ heavy scrap delivered to mills in eastern China's Yangtze River Delta at CNY 2,857/tonne ($402/t), including VAT. This is unchanged from Thursday and up CNY 19/t from a week before.
