Hyundai Steel orders Primetals plate mill equipment
South Korean steelmaker Hyundai Steel has ordered intermediate cooling (IC) technology from Primetals Technologies to be installed at its heavy plate mill in Dangjin this October to increase productivity, Kallanish notes.
This IC unit improves productivity by reducing processing time from the roughing mill stand to the finishing mill stand on a 2-stand mill. The hold time when plates or transfer bars are transferred between the two stands can be reduced.
