Improving sentiment drives Taiwan scrap prices
The Taiwanese scrap market is expected to rise due to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. Since Russia is one of Taiwan's main suppliers of billet, international economic sanctions against the supplier country may affect exports to Taiwan, while also helping to increase local scrap consumption.
Kallanish assessed HMS 1&2 80:20 container scrap on Wednesday at $485-490/tonne cfr Taiwan, up by $2.5/t from a week earlier.
