Indian coking coal imports surge, iron ore falls
Following the downward revision in global coking prices in June and July, the Indian intake of coking coal surged 12% on-year to 4.94 million tonnes in August against 4.43mt imported last year. In July-August, the coking coal imports also grew by 9.24% to 23.18mt, Kallanish notes.
Iron ore imports, however, plunged 25% on-year to 2.67mt in August and plummeted 33.07% to 16.78mt in April-August.
