Indian state-run steelmakers post record annual performance
India’s largest state-run steel producer Steel Authority of India (SAIL)’s crude steel production surged 14% on-year to 17.36 million tonnes in the fiscal year ended 31 March 2022 (FY22), against 15.22mt produced in FY21.
The company’s hot metal production grew 13% to 18.73mt and saleable steel – semi-finished and finished steel – production increased 16% to 16.89mt, Kallanish notes.
