Italian steel output continues downward trend
Italian crude steel output declined 9.5% year-on-year in May to 1.9 million tonnes, according to data issued by local steelmakers association Federacciai. In the first five months of the year, production fell by 7.9% on-year to 9.5mt.
Flat steel production decreased by 6.3% to 817,000t last month and by 11.6% to 4.1mt in January-May. Longs output fell by 1.5% to 1.1mt and by 6.9% to 5.3mt respectively, Kallanish notes.
