JSPL supplies first Indian-made head hardened rail
Jindal Steel & Power (JSPL) has supplied the first tranche of 1080 grade head hardened rail to the Kolkata Metro. It thus becomes the first Indian steelmaker to supply this type of rail.
Indian rail projects have hitherto imported head hardened rail for the construction of high-speed tracks from Japan and Europe, JSPL says. Trains can run on these tracks at a speed of up to 250 km/hour.
