Nucor adds support to US plate price hike
US steel producer Nucor has already lent its weight to the push for higher plate base pricing, Kallanish learns from a customer letter.
On the heels of a $100/short ton increase by SSAB Americas, Nucor set its minimum base price for A36 material at $940/st, effective immediately.
Kallanish currently puts A36 at $970-990/st - a level that buyers expect will increase again by the end of the month due to surging scrap prices.
