Pakistan’s March scrap, steel imports plunge
The delay in letters of credit issuance, coupled with slowed demand for steel and rising inflation, have resulted in a dramatic fall in Pakistani scrap and steel imports.
Pakistan’s scrap imports plunged 57.93% on-year to 136,384 tonnes in March against 324,172t imported a year earlier, according to Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) data. Imports were also down 4.49% on-month against 142,790t imported in February.
