Russia denies MET coal extraction tax increase reports
Russia’s Ministry of Finance has denied media reports it is planning to increase the mineral extraction tax (MET) for coal in the fourth quarter.
“They [coal companies] paid increased severance tax in the first quarter of 2023, so now they have been excluded from collection,” Deputy Finance Minister Alexei Sazanov told Russian journalists. "We have not decided to collect anything more, so let the issue be decided at the government level here…
