Taiwanese scrap import prices lift on restocking
East Asian scrap import markets continue to suffer from weak demand, Kallanish notes. However, prices in Taiwan have risen on some restocking activity.
Containerised US-origin HMS 1&2 80:20 concluded at higher than $350/tonne cfr, Taiwanese trading sources say. Prices are moving up because Taiwanese mills need to replenish stocks, a Kaohsiung trader commented on Thursday. Mills will need to take some scrap cargoes for December, he notes.
