Turkey requests US WTO consultations over tariffs

Turkey has requested through the World Trade Organisation consultations with the US over the latter’s doubling of tariffs on Turkish steel and aluminium to 50% and 20% respectively. Turkey says the measures are inconsistent with the US’ obligations under several provisions of the GATT 1994 and the Agreement on Safeguards.
