Turkey's scrap imports decline in August
Turkish scrap imports, which recovered in July, declined slightly in August. They fell 6.4% on-year to 1.506 million tonnes, according to Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) data monitored by Kallanish. They were also down from 1.89mt in July.
Over 99%, or 1.502mt, of the August imports were obsolete scrap. The average price of this scrap was $392/tonne, down from $396/t in both August 2022 and July 2023.
