US hits Canada, Mexico, EU with 232 tariffs
The US will formally end Canada, Mexico, and the European Union’s section 232 tariff exemptions by midnight on 31 May. It will slap a blanket 25% steel tariff on all applicable goods, US Department of Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross said early Thursday.
On a media conference call, Secretary Ross said the exemptions will expire as planned on 1 June and the tariffs will immediately go into effect, Kallanish reports.
