US imports stumble in August
US imports look likely to fall sharply in August, Kallanish gleans from US Department of Commerce data.
August’s license figures have been tallied at 1.96 million tonnes, down from about 2.75mt in July.
The vast majority of that decrease comes from expected imports of blooms, billets, and slabs. The US imported about 1.06mt in July – in August, the US only imported 252,200t.
