Mill production slips to recent low in US
US mill output slipped to its lowest weekly amount in many months, with year-to-date production now comparable to the same week last year, shows the latest data from the American Iron and Steel Institute.
During the week ended 26 March, US mills, operating at 79.4% of capabilities, produced an estimated 1.726 million short tons of raw steel. This was a 0.9% on-week and a 2.4% on-year decline, Kallanish understands.
